Financial Planning
Despite your best intentions, it’s easy to neglect your personal finances. Your life may be busy juggling multiple commitments and trying to find time for personal interests.

Financial matters may not be your “thing” or may be too overwhelming. Perhaps you seek professional guidance and a plan to get things done. This is where I can help.

Together, we’ll develop and implement a cohesive financial strategy based on what matters most to you. We’ll identify issues within these core areas: life values and goals, cash flow, debt, taxes, insurance, education, retirement, estate, philanthropy, and investments. Our work together is very collaborative – with a mix of education, discussion, and strategy. I help you articulate and prioritize your goals and issues, explain your options in clear language, create exhibits with appropriate analysis so you make informed decisions, outline an action plan, and facilitate its implementation.

Since life is ever-changing, financial planning is an ongoing process. Together we’ll proactively adapt and update your plan so that you’re not making new decisions with an outdated strategy.

Financial planning integrates the interdependent parts of your financial life so you can live peacefully today and have appealing choices tomorrow.

Examples of the Value of Planning

Financial Planning Seminar
Seminars are designed for those ready to tackle their financial planning issues themselves and feel comfortable working independently within a small group environment. A seminar consists of multiple, educational, working sessions plus individual assignments in between sessions, much like a university course. The duration of each seminar and number of sessions will vary to reflect the small group’s particular planning needs. Each session begins with group instruction of key concepts and is followed by individual exercises where you’ll apply these concepts to your specific financial circumstances. With my guidance and supervision, you’ll do your own analysis, create your own action plan, and implement it in between sessions.

Annually, I will offer an “ongoing monitoring session” so that you can update your plan.

Seminars are appropriate for those with less complicated planning needs, such as those setting up an initial plan to reach long term goals.  It is generally not appropriate for people entering retirement, couples with difficulties around money, or those using an inheritance creatively to fulfill a life’s goal.

Socially Responsible Investing Consultation
Draw upon my expertise to help you design – or review – a portfolio of socially responsible mutual funds and community development investments or both. You determine the exact nature of our consultation, choosing from among the possible topics. Prioritize these, and we’ll review what we can within the 1-2 hour consultation.

This consultation is focused on socially responsible investing and is not a comprehensive financial review.

Cash Flow Consultation
Together we’ll look at cash flow in a new way – one that will help you move beyond living paycheck to paycheck. We’ll discuss your goals and priorities, put safety nets in place, set your intention for the year and track your expenses. We’ll talk about how to adjust your cash flow plan as the year unfolds, keeping it alive and central to your financial decisions.

Several clients have found it helpful to come back periodically as they learn healthy cash flow habits. This may be appropriate for you, but at the very least, I recommend that you plan at least one to two follow-up meetings.

The initial consultation will be 1-2 hours and subsequent consultations will be ¼ - 1 hour. Consultations may take many forms – in-person or virtual meetings, phone calls, or email.
